Children's Safeguarding and Gambling Harm

A two-hour interactive session for multi-agency practitioners working with children and families. It covers how gambling harm affects children, both as the person gambling and as an "affected other" in a household where someone else is gambling. Led by people with lived experience, the session will help practitioners recognise the signs, have confident conversations with families, signpost to the right support, and embed gambling harm awareness into day to day safeguarding practice. Links to domestic abuse and longer term impacts on young people and adulthood will be drawn throughout.

Who it's for: Multi agency practitioners across health, schools, police, local authority early years, voluntary sector, and anyone working with children and families, including designated safeguarding leads.

What you'll learn:

How gambling harm presents in children, and in families affected by someone else's gambling. Practical screening questions and how to open the conversation. Referral pathways and how to support parents and carers affected.
