Why it's important that your child attends their health appointments

If an appointment has been arranged by yourself or a health professional then it is important that you take your child, as they cannot take themselves and they rely on you as a parent or carer to do your best.

  • Attending regular appointments will help the professional you are seeing build a good picture of your child’s health and how best they can treat or support you, especially with long term health conditions like asthma or epilepsy.
  • If there is a reason that you cannot attend, then talk to the health professional to see if they can help for example change time or location of appointment.
  • If you make an appointment for your child and you then feel they are better, do not forget to phone and cancel so this appointment could be offered to someone else

Professionals are not there to judge but want to support your child and family to be the healthiest they can.
